Request URI is too long - Custom segment (no replies)

I´m trying to create a larger filter that filters a lot of stuff. But the Segment Editor returns an 414 error with the POST method.

So I am wondering: Is there a better way to create comprehensive filters rather than using segment editor? If I edit the database (piwik_segment) instead of the Piwik dashboard to avoid the 414 error will the outcome be reliable?
