Problem after moving to new host.... (no replies)

I never had a problem with piwik until I moved too a new host, now that I have
setup everything again, imported the db, etc; I get the following error:

Piwik couldn't write to some directories.

chown -R www-data:www-data /home/ahcom/public_html/stats
chmod -R 0755 /home/ahcom/public_html/stats/tmp/templates_c

at first thought, I think, ok, no big deal, I will just make the directory writable, and
we are set to boogle, nope, wrong, once I take care of the last directory that you
see on the page /templates_c/ then the entire page goes blank, zip, nothing....

I have tried every permission under the sun to no avail; I either get one error, or
another, or a blank page when permissions are set on all directories....

host does not know what to make of it either....

any ideas?
