I keep getting a referring website called semalt.semalt.com (pretty much every day). However, I don't really think it's a referring website. Actually, it sort of smacks of malware. It appears to be a promotion to "understand your google rankings". It's a login page, and appears to have a number of scripts (blocked by Firefox's NoScript plugin). Beyond that, I'm not really sure what it is. But what I am sure about, is that it does not have a link on it, to my Piwik-tracked site!
I suppose it could be a spoofed referer. But it never seems to be from the same IP. I don't understand why so many visitors would be using that url as a spoofed referer. Unless....can an IP address be spoofed??
Or is it a search engine that's erroneously being id'd as a referer? The exact url is http://semalt.semalt.com/crawler.php?u=http://inkscapecommunity.com
There must be some way I can blacklist it, or somehow block it from being displayed. Unless it is a search engine, stats from there really are not something that's helpful to me. I've searched through the user guides and faq, but I haven't found how to get rid of the semalt "refering website". (It's possible that I've come acress the answer, but that I don't understand it. I'm not very tech savvy, although learning a lot as I go :) )
